Current activities

  1. Polymer Technology: Production of polymers having different bulk and surface properties and their medical and biological applications.
  1. Biochemistry: Hemoperfusion- Removal of toxic substances (bilirubin, pathogenic antibodies, cholesterol, metal ions such as iron and cadmium etc.) from human plasma. Enzyme immobilisation.
  1. Biosensors: Opto- and mass sensitive biosensors, surface plasmon resonance sensors, quartz crystal microbalance sensor.
  1. Molecular Imprinted Polymers: production of MIPs for several applications such as heavy metal removal, separation, purification and diagnosis of bio-macromolecules.
  1. Chromatographic Techniques: Preparation of polymeric biospecific sorbents and their use for the purification of enzymes and proteins (Bioaffinity Chromatography, Dye Affinity Chromatography, Immobilised Metal Affinity Chromatography).

6.   Biomaterials: Production of polymeric biomaterials, characterisation of bulk and surface properties. Modification of their surfaces by various methods.
